The Indoor Garden

Gardening doesn’t have to stop just because the warm weather did. Who knew growing your favorite veggies and herbs indoors could be done simply with a few containers sitting on a shelf?
While a shelf full of container-filled veggies and herbs will never replace a larger outdoor garden, a shelf can be enough space to have your fresh choices on-hand all year. As with any new project, it’s wise to start small: a container of salad greens, perhaps, and make sure it’s something you enjoy doing and want to pursue before making any bigger purchases, such as specific shelving and grow lights.
Growing Food In Your Home: The Green Thumb
Keep in mind that no growing environment, whether indoors or outdoors, is perfect for every type of plant. Depending on conditions, some plants will do better than others, some will prefer specific soil, and some will be different in every home and vary throughout different seasons.
Take a look at this list for suggestions. Choose foods you enjoy cooking with, but be willing to experiment and test new recipes! It won’t take long before you learn which edible plants grow best in your home.
