About fit815
Back in 2011, I took the challenge of founding and opening a wellness-focused health club in Rockford devoted to improving the overall health of our community.
In the years that FitMe Wellness has been open, we have helped thousands of members find their fit. We have started innovative local outreach efforts that have engaged local media outlets, created partnerships with locally owned restaurants, helped introduce our members to more local brands, and worked with local organic farms to deliver fresh produce to our members at FitMe Wellness.
It occurred to me that what we created at FitMe Wellness is a lifestyle unto itself. It is a lifestyle that embraces wellness, moving more and eating better, supporting local businesses, sharing the best health education, and empowering people to live the best lives possible. But this lifestyle can, and should, be embraced by an even larger segment of our community.
This is what fit815 grew from. It comes from a desire to create a content-rich publication that distills all these elements and puts them down in print, providing a sense of permanence that strongly affirms this lifestyle and proudly invites those in our community to share in it, support it, and live it.
fit815 will be printed quarterly and can be found online with regular updates at fit815.com. The articles will always entail a mix of content produced by national health experts, national and local writers and experts, and local businesses with interesting stories to tell. It is a magazine that seeks to provide timely, seasonal information on content varying from diet and exercise, to ways to engage with local businesses in a positive and affirming way, to informing our readers of local events and organizations that promote a healthy lifestyle.
I am proud of the work our team has undertaken to publish this magazine. Many elements of this magazine are from right here in the 815, from content producers and editorial team to the design and publication. A special thank you is due to all who have labored on this project, especially our advertisers who have supported the mission of fit815 from the beginning and without whom this publication would never have been printed.
